Cross-Reg: HNU/Mills
Cross-Registration Procedures with Holy Names University and Mills College
GTU students may take courses at Holy Names University (including the HNU affiliate, the Sophia Center) and Mills College.
Their schedules are available online:
The Sophia Center at Holy Names University also offers course which GTU students may take. See their on-line schedule for course offerings.
There are separate
forms for HNU and MC, which are available in the Consortial Registrar's
Office on the third floor of the GTU LeConte building (2465 LeConte
Avenue), or from the Registrar of your school of affiliation. They are
not available on line. This form must be signed by the Dean of your
school of affiliation, Faculty Advisor (if required by your school or
program), and the GTU Consortial Registrar before you go to HNU or Mills.
Submit the
completed HNU form to the Registrar's Office at Holy Names University, 3500 Mountain Boulevard, Oakland. The submitted form must have
all signatures listed except for the signature of the HNU Registrar,
who will sign the form after it is turned in (Faculty Advisor may be
blank if not required). (For Sophia Center courses, the required
signature needs to be obtained from the Director instead of the HNU
Division Chair.)
Submit the completed MC form to the
Registrar's Office at Mills College, 5000 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland
for their signature.
Once the HNU or MC signatures have been
obtained, the student should return one copy of the form to the CRO
(HNU/MCwill keep the other). Until the CRO receives a copy of
the cross-registration form with all required signatures, you are not
officially registered for the class. For more information see Cross-Registration.
NOTE: Any change in enrollment status for a cross-registered course can be problematic if you don't follow directions carefully. If you want to drop a class, change from a letter grade to pass-fail, or change from pass-fail to a letter grade, paperwork has to be filled out for both the GTU and either HNU or MC. Both Registrars must be notified. Failure to follow these procedures could result in a failing grade on your record.
If you encounter any difficulty in the cross-registration process, contact the GTU Consortial Registrar for advice and assistance at 2465 LeConte Avenue, third floor, phone 510/649-2462, or e-mail, cro@gtu.edu.
Remember that HNU, MC, and GTU classes do not always begin on the same dates. Please make sure to check starting dates carefully.
